Countryside environmental model city ,Obihiro

Located in the northern land Hokkaido, in the center of the vast Tokachi Plain, surrounded by the Taisetsu Mountains and Hidaka mountain range, Obihiro City aims for regional development in harmony with nature, and has been promoting a 100 year plan to create "Obihiro's forests," appropriate treatment of agricultural waste, and utilization of the abundant biomass resources. Taking full advantage of the natural blessing that is one of Japan's longest hours of sunlight, and further promoting industry, government and academia to work together to achieve a "countryside eco-model city."
