Kesen Regional FutureCity

This project aims to be the world model for small cities and to be Tohoku region’s restoration model and to recover the disaster-affected area by the Great Eastern Japan Earthquake as a future disaster-preventing city. It features the installations of mega-solar power plants with the world’s first regionally distributed storage battery system; consolidation of a compact city in two cities; and a town that consists of residential houses, medical institutions, commerce facilities, and communal facilities on higher ground; and the compact cities also aims to be well-connected to each other by transportations, such as EV buses, to promote regional development based on polycentric ideas.
