The natural energy by citizen participation, low-carbon city development

Iida City is working on various environmental problems through cooperation among regional sectors including businesses, citizens, NPOs etc., aiming towards a “City of Environmental Culture.” Among these, the city realized Japan’s first solar power project funded by a public fund. Combining the know-how of efforts until now with urban planning in the city center, including district re-development, the City will realize the consumption of locally produced energy from the sun and the forest.
